Philosophy Thoughts, or “PT,” is an independent media publication that focuses on power.
How power shapes societies, norms, and political classes.
PT focuses on historical patterns and civilizational concepts and ideas.
Civilizations rise, consolidate, and decay. The mechanisms behind these declines do not change. They all become variations of one another stemming from the same permanent issues.
Most political and historical analysis examines events through ideology, personality, moralization, or accident. PT rejects that frame entirely.
Every actor within a political system has rational self interest that cannot be simply defined as good or evil.
We are based in the United States of America and our analysis at times can be shaped by potential biases inherited from our culture.
PT has no allegiance to any modern political or ideological movement because modern politics and western society is in late stage imperial decline.
We write in a manner that is uncomfortable for many, either because they are too blind to see through the illusions of modern society, or because they simply love their own ignorance.
This sounds very harsh, yet is part of the reality many cannot accept.
PT speaks brutally and honestly of reality.
We do not care if you hate us. It does not matter. You cannot change reality just as we cannot change it.
PT’s fundamental thesis, at the heart of everything we write, is that human nature is inherently self interested, self preserving, and self serving.
Many humans, if they were not given hierarchy and a society of laws and rules, would devolve into chaos and destruction.
This is the brutal reality of human nature. It simply does not care about anything other than itself.
That is why PT’s analysis is accurate and brutal to those who are unwilling to see through the veil of their own illusions.
People perceive themselves as good as a self rationalization and a survival mechanism. In reality we often delude ourselves into illusions that are unable to be sustained under close examination.
PT exists because no honest analysis of history, power, or civilization is possible without accepting this first.
This publication is not for mass consumption.
Only the few can truly think freely. Not because they are superior, but because they are willing to confront reality while others live in illusion.
PT will collaborate with writers and analysts who think seriously about power, history, and reality. Those who are up to our standards may be featured. If that's you, reach out.
